Buyer's Notes

How to choose a katana from this collection

Begin with the intended use and the dimensions rather than appearance alone. Blade length, handle length, overall weight and weight without the saya affect how substantial a finished sword feels. Our product pages list measurements only when they have been confirmed for the model.

Next compare the documented steel, heat treatment and blade construction. These terms describe different parts of the build and should not be treated as interchangeable quality labels. If a specification is not confirmed, ask us to review it before ordering.

01

Dimensions

Check blade length, handle length, overall length and both listed weights where available.

02

Blade

Compare the documented steel, heat treatment, geometry, bo-hi and finish.

03

Mounting

Review the tsuka, tsuba, habaki, seppa, fittings and saya as one assembled system.

04

Order route

Choose a listed model, request an available change, or begin an advanced custom specification.
