Understanding our tachi-style collection
Tachi and katana are related Japanese sword forms, but their traditional wearing orientation and mountings differ. On a newly made tachi-style sword, the most visible distinction is often the koshirae and suspension hardware rather than length alone.
For that reason, compare each model by its documented curvature, blade and handle dimensions, fittings, saya construction and total weight. We use the term tachi-style to describe these modern Longquan-made pieces accurately without suggesting that they are antique Japanese swords.

What is the difference between a tachi and a katana?
Historically, tachi were generally worn suspended edge-down, while katana were commonly worn edge-up through the belt. On modern reproductions, mounting style is often the clearest distinction.
Are these antique Japanese tachi?
No. They are newly made tachi-style swords produced and assembled through our workshop in Longquan, China.
Can I customize a tachi-style sword?
Selected dimensions, blade details, fittings, saya finish and engraving can be reviewed. The approved scope, price and production time are confirmed before work begins.
