Compact proportions
Blade, handle and mounting dimensions are considered together for the shorter format.
Browse compact wakizashi made and assembled through our Longquan workshop. Traditionally shorter than a katana, the wakizashi format has its own proportions and balance; it is not simply a full-length sword reduced without adjustment.

US$85A wakizashi is commonly recognized as a shorter Japanese sword and was historically associated with the katana as part of a paired set. For a modern newly made piece, the most useful comparison is between the actual measurements, weight, blade geometry and mounting rather than the name alone.
Review how the shorter blade is matched to the tsuka and saya. Our fitting process checks alignment, stability, retention and the visible junctions between the habaki, seppa, tsuba, fuchi, handle and scabbard mouth.
Compare blade length and handle length instead of relying only on total length.
Use both sheathed and unsheathed weight when the two figures are available.
Confirm sharpened or unsharpened requirements before production.
Ask us to review compatible mounting details if the wakizashi will accompany a katana.
A wakizashi has a shorter blade and different overall proportions. Product names alone are not enough, so compare the listed blade length, handle length and weight for each model.
Yes. BladeSummit swords use full-tang construction, with the tang extending into the handle as part of the assembly.
A coordinated pair may be possible as a custom project. Send the preferred dimensions, blade details, fittings and saya finish for workshop review.
Tell us the intended use, dimensions, blade requirements, mounting preferences and destination. We will review feasibility before a custom order is accepted.
