The grip begins with structure
Handle length, core fit, fastener placement, underwrap and wrapping method affect the assembled sword before colour is considered. Material availability and construction should be confirmed in the build sheet.
Guard and companion fittings
Tsuba, fuchi, kashira and menuki should share a compatible scale, material language and assembly plan. Heavier fittings can also change the way the sword carries mass.
Saya fit is functional
The saya protects the blade and should retain it appropriately without relying on an excessively tight fit. Surface finish, mouth reinforcement and cord treatment are separate decisions.
Colour needs hierarchy
One dominant tone, one material contrast and one restrained accent usually produce a more durable visual result than matching every component independently.
